Fickleness facilitates Failure

Fickle behavior has no place in the workplace! Fickle people frustrate trust

building within teams! I’ve learned, throughout my leadership journey, that fickle people

change their minds so much that it makes reliability and trust impossible functions in

team building. Fickle people will love what you do one week and loathe you the next.

Fickle people are unpredictable and can wreak havoc in the workplace.

For the most part fickle people filter everything through what they feel at the

moment. Emotions rule their actions and ruin their team player capacity. Working with

them is like trying to walk the ridgeline of a mountain range while simultaneously

walking the valley floor. Fickle people are frustrating, fatiguing, faithless, and fraudulent.

Need I say more.

Fickle people can spell the demise of healthy-happy-trusting-teams; fickle

leaders clearly spell its death. Fickle leaders are to an organization what propane gas is

to and enclosed room, stinky and volatile. History is replete with examples of the

devastation of fickle leadership. Consider the short rule of Emperor Caligula, or the

death of the J.C. Penney loyal customer base under the fickle leadership of CEO

Johnson, just to name a few.

Fickle leaders defraud those they lead by saying one thing and doing another or

vice versa. Fickle leaders running small businesses should plan on a short run of

success. If they don’t kill the business first, they will kill the desire of those seeking to

help them be successful in their business endeavors. Leaders, wise up and eradicate

fickle behavior.

Successful authentic leaders take a hard stand against fickleness both personally

regarding themselves and professionally concerning their people. Like I said at the

beginning, “fickleness has no place in the workplace,” so, don’t be fickle about driving it

out.
